Scott Gillenwaters

I was born and raised in East Tennessee and love this area. I have a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science/Secondary Education from Emory & Henry College (now a university!) My Master of Arts is from Huntington University in Ministry Leadership. I spent three decades in church ministry working in program ministries as well as Church Administration and fundraising. I am a Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO) and spent a few years in the corporate world and a year and a half in the government world working on software development teams. These “software years” reminded me of my desire to more directly help others, which led me to the East Tennessee Foundation. Intermingled among my work years was a penchant for local government. I served as an Anderson County Commissioner two terms before being elected to the County School Board, where I’ve served since 2011.

When I’m not working, I enjoy running and participating in 5Ks for good causes. I enjoy music and working on home improvement projects. I also volunteer time as a mediator with the Victim Offender Reconciliation Program (VORP) of Community Mediation Services (Clinton), with the Oak Ridge Lions Club, and First United Methodist Church (Oak Ridge). My wife and I have two sons, a daughter-in-law, and a granddaughter.
