The Thomas W. Jester, Jr. Scholarship fund was created in the memory of Tom Jester, a beloved writer, creator, and musician. Tom produced the original music for The Heartland Series, spearheaded the reopening of the Tennessee Theatre in downtown Knoxville and was an avid performer of Appalachian and Irish music.
Recipients will receive a one-time scholarship grant of $1,900.
The Thomas W. Jester Scholarship is for graduating seniors or current college students from East Tennessee’s Foundation’s 25-county service area who are pursuing a career in music. Any music major may apply, but the ideal candidate will have a deep love for American or Irish traditional music.
Complete the East Tennessee Foundation Common Application between December 15 and March 15 to see if you are eligible for this and other scholarship awards.
