B & W Y-12 Scholarship Fund

Purpose and History

Established in 2004 for the benefit of graduating high school seniors wishing to pursue careers in science or pre-engineering fields.

Scholarship Amount

$1,500 one-year award

Eligibility

The B&W Y-12 Scholarship is for graduating seniors who live in one of the following East Tennessee counties:

Anderson County
Blount County
Campbell County
Claiborne County
Cocke County
Knox County
Loudon County
Morgan County
Roane County
Sevier County

And who intend to enroll full time at one of the following institutions:

Maryville College
Pellissippi State Community College
Roane State Community College
Tennessee Technological University
University of Tennessee, Knoxville
Walters State Community College

Eligible students have are U.S. citizens or permanent residents, have at least a 3.0 GPA, need financial assistance to attend college, and intend to work as scientists in a variety of fields excluding healthcare and education. The ideal B&W Y-12 candidate will major in physics, chemistry, pre-engineering, biomedical technology, environmental science or similar fields.
