[Monroe County, Tennessee, July 12, 2024] – The East Tennessee Foundation (“ETF” or the “Foundation”), a nationally accredited public charity and community foundation improving lives and communities through philanthropic leadership, today announced a grant opportunity for Monroe County residents and communities.
The Foundation’s John D. Grubb and Louise G. Sumner Fund for Monroe County is now accepting applications for its 2024 grant cycle. Applicants must be 501(c)(3) public charities, units of government, or public educational institutions proposing projects which benefit the residents and communities of Monroe County.
ETF President & CEO Keith Barber said that the grant is made possible by donors who have contributed to the fund, which serves as a strategic vehicle for the Foundation’s community-driven philanthropy.
“As an affiliate fund of East Tennessee Foundation, the John D. Grubb and Louise G. Sumner Fund is designated specifically for the betterment of those living and working in Monroe County,” Barber explained. “By creating and managing funds like this, we help donors customize and maximize their charitable impact throughout our 25-county service region – and we are thrilled to offer this funding opportunity today to the Monroe County community.”
The fund was established in 1998 by Monroe County siblings John D. Grubb and Louise G. Sumner to leave a permanent legacy that improves the lives of Monroe County residents.
“Monroe Countians are still benefiting from John and Louise’s generosity – economically, socially, culturally, and educationally,” said Ashley Siferd Butler, ETF Director of Competitive Grants. “We look forward to receiving grant applications over the next several weeks and ultimately partnering with organizations that are also dedicated to creating meaningful change.”
Applications must be submitted using ETF’s online grant management system no later than 7:00 pm EST on August 7, 2024. Grants will primarily range from $5,000 to $7,500 and will be awarded in mid-September for two-year terms, beginning September 15, 2024, and concluding September 15, 2026.
