Wachs Youth Leadership Fund 2009 Grant Recipient Announced

2009 recipient is the Johnson County High School Career and Technical Center, in support of the SkillsUSA Program
Mountain City, TN -The Johnson County Community Foundation, an Affiliate Fund of East Tennessee Foundation (ETF), announces the recipient of the 2009 Margaret M. and Harley H. Wachs Youth Leadership Fund grants program. The 2009 recipient is the Johnson County High School Career and Technical Center, in support of the SkillsUSA Program.
The $600.00 grant award will assist ten outstanding students to travel to the National Leadership and Skills Conference in Kansas City, Kansas. SkillsUSA is a national nonprofit organization that partners with students, teachers, and industry representatives working together to ensure America has a skilled workforce. This is accomplished by preparing high school and college students for careers in trade, technical and skilled occupations, including those in the area of healthcare.
The Margaret M. and Harley H. Wachs Youth Leadership Fund was established in 2001 by their son, Peter, and daughter-in-law, Joy Wachs, in memory of Peter's mother and father. The Fund was created for the benefit of young people in Johnson County to provide travel and leadership opportunities that will enhance their knowledge and expand their abilities to become active, visionary leaders of Johnson County communities.
Created by a group of Johnson County residents in 2001 to serve the people of their beloved county, Johnson County Community Foundation (JCCF) gives donors a way to connect their giving with local nonprofits, public agencies and compelling charitable causes. JCCF, established as a permanent endowment, provides an on-going resource to fund endeavors, creating opportunities and addressing challenges for all Johnson County citizens.
East Tennessee Foundation, established in 1986, is a regional community foundation serving 25 counties in East Tennessee. With the mission of enriching lives and strengthening communities, ETF administers 12 affiliate funds, including JCCF.
