Local Community Foundation Announces Grant Opportunities and Grantwriting Assistance Workshop

Kingsport Community Foundation Funding is Available to Support Local Projects

KINGSPORT, Tenn. - The Kingsport Community Foundation (KCF), an Affiliate Fund of East Tennessee Foundation (ETF), announces the availability of guidelines for its grants program. Greater Kingsport-area nonprofit organizations in Sullivan County are requested to submit proposals for projects and programs that improve the quality of life of citizens in the Greater Kingsport community. Grants awarded generally range from $500 to $2,000 and support projects occurring between February 1, 2009 and February 1, 2010. Submitted applications must be postmarked on or before September 22, 2008 to be eligible for funding.

Eligible projects and programs must have a vast array of opportunities for citizen engagement in one or more of the following areas: arts and culture, education and literacy, health and wellness, and community development and improvement. Applicant organizations must provide programs and activities which are inclusive in practice and extend opportunities for participation to underserved citizens.

A grant application workshop will be held on Friday, August 15, 2008 from 1:00- 2:30 p.m. in the Training Room (first floor) at the Eastman Credit Union at Meadowview in Kingsport. Admission is free.
The RSVP deadline for the workshop is Wednesday, August 13, 2008.

Eligible applicants must be located within the Greater Kingsport service area in
Sullivan County and be tax-exempt 501(c)(3) organizations or other exempt entities.

The Kingsport Community Foundation was founded in 2000 through gifts from local donors and a matching grant from East Tennessee Foundation. KCF is a philanthropic organization, governed by a local board of directors. Its mission is to help donors maximize their contributions to the community by awarding grants that enrich lives and strengthen the greater Kingsport community forever.

East Tennessee Foundation, established in 1986, is a regional community foundation serving 25 counties in East Tennessee. It administers 12 Affiliate Funds, including KCF.
